Today’s my bday (Heyyy fellow Cancers!) and I’m feeling extra grown at
29, I mean 36! I thought it would be a good time to introduce my blog and make a little list of some of the desires and goals I have swirling around in my head all the time! I can’t believe I’m just 4 years away from 40! I’m going to share 4 dreams I’d love to accomplish before that next major milestone and I’d love to have a conversation about what everyone else would be doing with their lives if you weren’t doing what you are doing now.
Which of those things are worth carving out time to work toward? Which of those things do you feel are a part of your God-given purpose? What would you regret NOT doing before you leave this Earth? We all have dreams and goals that keep popping back into our minds telling us that we should just go for it! Here is a list of a few of mine. Some of them I’m working toward at the moment and some of them will take a bit longer. This isn’t a bucket list though. These are things I’m going to do before I’m 40! Whatever your age, you’re alive and have breath in your body and dreams in your heart, so I encourage you to make your own list and even share them if you feel inclined.
#1 Get closer to God and spend every single morning talking to Him, praising Him and getting instructions for my day. Every thing else I want to accomplish takes a backseat to this one goal. This has been my goal for a long time and I always fall short. Who else can relate? It could actually be the simplest thing because if we discipline ourselves to make it a habit it could become as natural as brushing our teeth and taking a shower in the morning. Not many of us would neglect to make time for that! Spending time with God is even more important than getting dressed for the day because we could spend a whole day or even a lifetime pursuing plans He never intended for us. We could spend a lifetime not knowing how much more joyful, peaceful and powerful we could be if we’d just plug into our power source! How many people take time to plug in their laptops and cell phones so that they’re ready for the day ahead? Why would we then neglect to recharge our spirits by plugging into our Creator? I listed this one first because I’m reminded of this particular scripture as I write this. Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

#2 Blog consistently for a year and beyond. This blog started as one of those thoughts that I couldn’t stop thinking about and I didn’t want to do it because I was afraid. I want to help other parents, couples and future married people by sharing my up and downs while encouraging them in the word. However, just like some of you, I was afraid of being judged. Of putting myself out there. Well, here I am. Blogging. I look forward to revisiting this post in a year to see how far this blog has come and also to see which of these things I’ve checked off this list! Again, I encourage anyone reading this to make your own and hold yourself accountable to go after what you want!
#3 Open an online baby boutique! I love baby clothes and I’d love to help style other peoples’ kids, too. I’ve wanted 2 little boys of my own (for reasons I’ll share another time) my whole life until I was overcome with a desire for a girl to dress up. (Don’t laugh at my reason. I blame Instagram! Ha!) This will be my way of scratching that itch to dress girls and boys in the cutest clothes that aren’t available in traditional baby stores. Sidenote: Boy mamas, I know that you know the struggle of finding unique boy clothes with so many stores that cater to girl fashion. So this will be a creative outlet and something that I just really enjoy doing. I can’t wait to launch my store!
#4 Write a book. I’ve always imagined myself becoming an author. I enjoy children’s literature as well as self-help books and even published a few papers in college. I enjoy writing and look forward to sharing with the world as a published book author!
What’s on your list? If you haven’t thought about it lately, go ahead and get started!
