Heyyy there! Thanks for visiting my site. My name is Melissa Ebong. This blog a personal passion of mine and it took me far too long to make it a reality! I was afraid to “put myself out there” like many of us are, but it is so worth it. I plan to use this blog to build community amongst moms (and parents in general) who are out here winging it just like me and have a sincere desire to get it right. We’ve got this!
I’m a Christian, wife, mama of three sons, former 7th grade teacher and realtor. Through this blog, I want to help other wives and moms and future wives and moms navigate the sometimes delightful, exciting and murky waters of marriage and motherhood. I also longed for a community where I can give and receive ideas and encouragement plus Godly advice on family and relationships. My role as wife and mama are the most important roles I’ll ever have. I want to be the best at these that I can be with God’s help and guidance. I also want to share the highs and lows with others who may be going through the same things or will be in the future.
So what else is there to know? I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri. I moved to New Orleans in 1999 to attend Xavier University of Louisiana and received a degree in Psychology. I love New Orleans and stayed there an additional two years to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling. Hurricane Katrina chased me out of New Orleans in 2005 and I lived in Houston for a few years where I graduated my counseling program and worked with children and families in counseling and social services. Many of the children I counseled were evacuees from New Orleans and unfortunately, spent time in the Superdome during the aftermath. They experienced some awful things. That experience really transformed me and gave me even more compassion for children and families. I moved to DC twelve years ago and attained a Master’s degree in Secondary Education. I went on to teach 7th grade Language Arts to kids from many cultural backgrounds in the DC metro area. When I left teaching I became a realtor, something I desired long before making it a reality. I am licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia and enjoy helping people achieve their dream of home ownership and transforming and selling their most expensive and sentimental asset–their home. It really doesn’t feel like work and I love the flexibility it gives me as a mother of young children.
My husband Iso and I married in 2014 in Sonoma, CA. No one we know is from there, but we loved the venue and the food and decided to go for it! In our spare time, we work together to manage a small vacation rental and we enjoy transforming the space and hosting families from all over the world, showing them our hospitality. Our family loves to travel, eat delicious food and just be together. It really is all about the simple things for us!
